General Tips:

-Stamina and Mana regeneration is key, your abilities can self heal but health Regen never hurts either.

- On this I recommend for stamina, Bouillon du Predateur is fantastic as Predator Bones don't spoil so you can make them only when you need them. Do be warned these bones are weighty, I never carry more than 10 if I can help it.

-Alpha Sandwiches and the Jerky's are nice and relatively simple to get, but also stack up weight fast. Prioritize Stamina after you unlock the healing. (Unless you really need it)

-Some simple Star Mushrooms usually take care of Mana regeneration needs, They're pretty common in every region. (especially after you get arcane unison on your circlet)

-Stamina Burn restoring items like Bitter Spicy Tea or Needle Tea etc are your best friends. Especially after you get Runic Armor.

-You can switch out Spark or Mana Ward with Mana Push or Conjure To better fit your play-style.

-If you don't have Sinner's Claymore. Prayer Claymore is perfectly suitable after the same enchantment, and the Palladium Claymore can also work quite well, Add Castigation to better deal damage and inflict Sapped on enemies, Or if you're feeling particularly spicy Starchild Claymore is behind a boss-fight. But that can only offer damage and as a tank we have other priorities.

-Pick Up Boons, Aside from Blessed, I don't mention picking up any Boons henceforth but I highly recommend you get all of them, As they help with resistances and temperature.

-Learn to use the map, It has no way points but that doesn't mean it isn't helpful. Note that it doesn't work in caves but it Does work in cities.

Walkthrough -

Early Game:

The first thing you should do is get some decent equipment, but pickup Scholars Circlet as we will enchant this later. Aside from that you don't need anything fancy yet, Stock up on Stamina, Health and Mana regenerating foods and potions. They will be your lifeline through these early stages. unlock mana (I'd Recommend around 3 points as we use a fair amount of mana) in Conflux Mountain and reach the Cabal Hermit tree, You may be wondering why we take Sigil of Wind instead of Infuse Wind. This is because when we join the holy mission we will get Infuse Light Which will be our butter, But Sigil of wind is our bread. At this stage you should have Pommel counter, Kick, Spark and maybe Sigil of Fire as our current skills, As you move up the tree replace Sigil of Fire with Sigil of Wind and put Mana push and Conjure in your main lineup. Until we unlock our other abilities these will be our main abilities, Feel free to explore around Chersonese a bit testing your new strength. We are a little magey right now but thats all about to change.

Early-Mid:

The Hallowed Marsh is our next stop. More specifically Monsoon. The over-world out here is a good place to farm Predator bones for back pack or stamina regeneration purposes (Bouillon du Predateur) Once in Monsoon, Pick up the Warrior Monk tree and add Brace, Then breakthrough into Master of Motion and Counterattack. As we have limited abilities, At this stage we add what passives we can. Master of Motion makes us tankier so that is our best option, and Counterattack while not as cool as its alternative, Is another great tool in our arsenal to avoid damage. Don't forget to pick up Mana Ward from the philosopher as that can help us avoid even more damage* (But not status effects) If you have coin to spare, Silver Armour and Silver Boots are a good pickup as its not as expensive as Runic, Doesn't slow you down as much and helps with the enemies in the marsh. If you see it there, and you don't already have an enchanted Sinners Claymore you can pick up the Palladium Claymore at the blacksmith too. Make sure to get Blessed from Mofat, This will be vital for the "Infuse Light" skill. The last thing to do in monsoon is Join the Holy Mission I usually recommend holding off on joining a faction until absolutely necessary, And as it happens, it is. As once you join you will get the skill Infuse Light. While this unsung hero is not on our hot-bar, make sure to add this to your weapon every time you enter a fight from your larger skill menu (at least any fight that would be moderately challenging) You do need the Blessed boon to use it, But thankfully we already have that. We now have our main sources of damage and protection, We have yet to pick up our armor set or out last breakthrough but unfortunately for us we don't have time at this second to go finish that off because we have bigger problems.

*A good strategy is to use Mana Ward and then Sigil of Wind or Conjure immediately after as they have long casting times and enemies will attack during them, so being invulnerable will allow you to finish casting stress free.

Mid Game

Now that we've joined a faction, Our Vandavel Quest timer has begun. And if you have received the Purifier quest-line by either talking to Mofat after joining the holy mission, or re-entering monsoon after joining the holy mission, You'll have to do that as well. Prioritize both over everything else. There are separate guides on each on the wiki. If you can avoid Purifier, do so, but Vandavel begins even if you don't have the quest yet so make haste back to Cierzo to get that squared away. (Completely ignore Ellinara and the "come back after 3 days" that will just put you on another timed quest should you pursue that quest, We'll do that in due time)

Once you've dealt with Vandavel's band of merry men and possibly Purifier we can get back to business. Next stop is Berg. in Emmerkar Forest This is where we pick up our last skill tree, Rune Sage. It gives us extra mana, and through the combination Dez and Egoth will give us extra protection and physical resistance, and if you follow that with the reverse, Egoth-Dez it will heal you for 40, Pretty nifty, But to pull that off you need Arcane Syntax (To be able to use the heal) And more importantly Internalised Lexicon because as you may have noticed, Rune sage spells require a Lexicon, And we have a claymore. But once you get this passive you will be able to use all the cool spells from the comfort of your Longsword. Do note that the heal Consumes your protection, so you will need to recast it.

Other, possibly helpful spells include - Shim-Egoth + Egoth-Shim If your opponent is resistant to lightning and you need that sweet sweet Ethereal damage, Fal-Dez For light and with that light Fal-Shim If you wanna give up and just be a mage. And lastly Shim-Fal For an x marks the spot and Shim-Shim for D E T O N A T E.

But assuming you are going with the Dez-Egoth wombo combo that finishes off our move set for the late game, Now we move on to getting geared, Conveniently Runic Armor is right there in Berg, Its tanky as hell and gives us extra lightning (and ethereal) damage and to top it off gives us mana cost reduction which we sorely need. One minor hiccup is that now you're slow and I mean slow. Maybe you've picked up some master trader gear if you're experienced but runic armor is also incredibly heavy for your bags. We have two things to alleviate this. "Armor Training" in Levant, which is our next destination for just that. and Enchants, of which our non DLC brethren will be left behind.

Late Game

We are almost fully kitted now, But we're heading to the desert, where temperature will be a problem, But we have Weather tolerance, Enhanced boons from Shamonic Resonance, combine that with a Needle Tea (or Cactus Fruit once in the desert) and a Weather Defense potion and you... may still be going up in temperature... So I recommend, At least until you finish your faction quest, you head after midnight. Cold is easier to deal with with a Warm potion, Bitter Spicy Tea and a weather potion, if all else fails, emergency campfire. Once you get to Levant, Pick up Armour Training from the Mercenary tree, Anything else you need from Levant and then book it the hell out of there. make a note to self to stock up on weather resistance potions and teas for future desert or volcanic exploits.

Now all that's left is enchants Head to Harmattan (You can do so from Levant in fact) And farm Arcane Elementals, And Shield Golems for the necessary parts* to enchant your Scholars Circlet with Arcane Unison (or Rain if you're desperate for more mana) and Runic Boots with Speed and Efficency, if you want to enchant your Runic Armor you can but thats entirely optional and you may go with whatever suits you. (Chaos and Creativity will make you faster and boost Decay damage, So Alleviates some movement speed issues if you're having those)

Now you are fully kitted and ready to blast through the faction quests and beyond.

*There are guides on how to farm Arcane Elementals for their elemental particles, Shield Golems for their Purifying Quarts and the chest in the centre of the Antique Plateau in the Corruption drops Tourmaline, And Dreamers Root is everywhere in that region. And each Enchanting recipe has its own wiki page with instructions and requirments if you do not have the recipe.

Final Notes

This build is one of my favorites and fairly versatile, A Claymore is not necessary and you may substitute it out for any 2h weapon, maybe even a 1 Handed weapon and a Lexicon, Shields add more abilities which may be tough to manage in our limited hotbar space so be wary if you do. The Armor set is simply what I like to run with, but Candle Plate Armor or even Tsar armor may work out better in your game, Experiment with what works for you.

If you like Fashion™ may I Suggest the Dusk Backpack, It goes well, and 5 Barrier for when you get ganked with your pack still on doesn't hurt.

Finally, Remember to buff up before fights and fear the Cutthroat Pearlbird. That is all.
